Jesus Is the Reason for the Season

How often we hear this phrase quoted during the Advent and Christmas seasons; and how often it slips our minds. Many of us are running in several different directions at once, and it seems that we have little time to reflect on the meaning of Christ’s entrance into our world. Even finding Christmas cards that convey the religious truths we celebrate seems to be more and more difficult.

Our office is happy to make available to you three cards from which to choose. You may wish to enroll a friend or loved one as a member of The Society for the Propagation of the Faith for one year. Enrollment carries with it a remembrance in the Masses of missionary priests and bishops all over the world.

The other choice is to arrange for one Mass be offered for someone. Your Mass offering will be transmitted to a missionary priest who will make use of that individual stipend to further his work of preaching the Gospel.

The offering for a one year enrollment or a single Mass is the same—five dollars. Whichever you choose, know that your financial support of our missionaries achieves two goals. The missionary priests who rely on your support will benefit greatly from your generosity, and you will share with your family and friends the true meaning of Christmas.

Pour forth, we beseech you, O Lord,
your grace into our hearts,
that we, to whom the Incarnation of Christ your Son
was made known by the message of an Angel,
may by his Passion and Cross
be brought to the glory of his Resurrection.
Who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.

Collect for the Fourth Sunday of Advent
