A Great Day is Coming!

The Pontifical Mission Societies are the Holy Father’s principal support system for the spread of the Gospel to the ends of the earth. One of these Societies – The Society for the Propagation of the Faith – is entrusted by Pope Francis with the task of bringing the life, hope and love of Jesus Christ to the most remote parts of the world.
Every year, the Holy Father designates the second to last Sunday of October as World Mission Sunday, a day for the Church worldwide to celebrate the work of the Propagation of the Faith in every parish – from the tiniest mission outstation to the grandest cathedral!

The Society’s missionary priority, year round,  is to build up a local Church in 1150 mission dioceses spread across Latin and South America, the Pacific islands, Africa and Asia.  The Gospel message calls us to embrace the whole of humanity, recognizing the dignity of every person; we are all called to live as children of God!
This daunting task cannot be accomplished without the cooperation of every baptized Catholic, each called to be a missionary.  The Church’s works of evangelization, charity, and promotion of justice and peace cannot be done without priests, Religious Sisters and Brothers, lay catechists and local places of worship.
In his message for World Mission Sunday, Pope Francis stated, “Humanity of our time needs the secure light that illuminates its path and that only the encounter with Christ can give.”
Won’t you please help us with your prayers and sacrifices to bring that shining light to the most needy and marginalized of the world?
Please pray daily for missionaries worldwide and the people they serve.  We also need your sacrifices. Your generous help can make a difference in their lives:

·         $15 – a week’s support of a young man in a mission seminary in the war torn country of South Sudan.

·         $25 – a month’s help for the formation of a Religious Sister in the rain forests of Ecuador.

·         $75 – to assist a local priest in the Solomon Islands, traveling great distances – often on foot - celebrating the Sacraments and providing pastoral care to remote villages

·         $100 – to cover the cost of textbooks for children in catechism class at a parish in Sri Lanka.

·         $500 – to provide food and education for a child orphaned by HIV/Aids in Zambia.

On behalf of those served by The Society for the Propagation of the Faith, we are prayerfully grateful for your help.
